Welcome to Analaigh Counseling and Mediation Services.  My name is Michelle Butcher and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and Certified Divorce Mediator with more than 20 years in the field.  I have an innate passion for creating a safe and judgment free space for clients to seek guidance and support in various facets of their lives.  I have worked across various backgrounds and currently have a focus on Anxiety, Depression, Life Changes,  Women's Health Issues including perinatal, prenatal, post partum and Fertility needs.  I also have a strong background and love of Couples Counseling and Mediation.  â€‹My approach is open, eclectic and very client centered.  I know embarking on the journey of counseling can be very intimidating for some but there is no time like the present.

I have recently expanded my practice to include some of the most seasoned and well trained therapy clinicians in their respective disciplines to provide a more comprehensive approach to client needs.

We continue to offer medication management services for individuals ages 14 and up through our partnership with Peaceful Minds Psychiatry founded by Dr. Brooke Lawson-  Click on our "Medication Management" tab for further details.

I chose the name   "Analaigh"  for my practice as it means " Breathe" in Old Irish.  Even if just once a day, stop, inhale, close your eyes and Analaigh...

                                   Clinical Perspective

Foundationally, my therapeutic process is based in guiding clients toward increased self-awareness and ultimately, the achievement of their desired goals. Always client-centered, I prioritize mindful guidance with articulating messages that others need to hear and with a supportive approach while supporting clients to think outside of the box. With reciprocal  dialogue, motivational interviewing and transparent feedback, I continue to encourage clients to dig deep, face fears and bring about change to their thinking thus enhancing their life experiences.

My specific populations of interest includes Adults, Couples, Families, LGBTQAI+, Gender Identity, Gender Questioning as well as those individuals struggling with Women’s Centered Issues (Infertility, Post Partum, Parenting, etc).  Supporting individuals with Parent Coaching, Generalized Anxiety and Depression are also areas of practice.

My inherent approach to working with and in support of my clients, has always been client-centered.  I view my role as a therapist to be a mirror for the potential that is already present within a person.  I am very much a realist and want to support what a person needs in the moment.  I want to meet my clients where they are but also show them I will walk the trenches to make sure we don't stay there too long.

I am passionate about change and empowerment and have often been given the compliment that my therapy sessions are like " having coffee with an old friend".  I strive to create a safe, open, judgment free space for clients to be themselves.

While I have long stood in the conviction that I am not a one theory therapist, I find myself mostly drawn to Reality Therapy.

Obviously, not all aspects of life are within our power to change, human beings are always faced with opportunities to respond rationally or responsibly – or not.

"Reality Therapy helps clients to establish greater control over their lives while enhancing the ability to build meaningful and effective relationships. It is a present-day, non-symptom-focused approach in which the counselor takes on a friendly, positive, and nonjudgmental stance.

Reality Therapy promotes individual responsibility for actions while helping clients make decisions that are in line with the visions they have for their lives."

Amanda believes that meaningful therapy begins with a strong, collaborative relationship. She views the counseling process as a partnership — one where therapist and client work together to create lasting, positive change. Amanda understands that reaching out for support can feel vulnerable, and she strives to create a safe, compassionate space where clients feel heard, respected, and empowered.

Her philosophy is simple: there is no “one-size-fits-all” approach to healing. Every individual’s story is unique, and Amanda meets clients exactly where they are in their journey. She takes an integrative, eclectic approach to therapy, thoughtfully drawing from evidence-based modalities to tailor treatment to each client’s specific needs and goals. Her work incorporates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). Amanda focuses on helping clients build insight, develop practical coping skills, and gain tools they can use long after sessions end.

With over 15 years of experience in the mental health field, Amanda has worked in a variety of settings, allowing her to support individuals and families facing a wide range of challenges. She is trained in EMDR and the Active Parenting program, bringing additional depth to her work with trauma, family systems, and parenting support.

Amanda enjoys working with individuals and couples, helping clients strengthen relationships, improve communication, navigate life transitions, and process difficult experiences. She is committed to ongoing professional development and continually seeks out opportunities to expand her knowledge and refine her skills in order to provide the highest quality care.
